Peggy Fleming may be best-known for taking home the only gold medal for the United States during the 1968 Winter Olympics, but the retired ice skater was quite a talented winemaker as well. In the late 1990s, Fleming and her husband started a small backyard winery as a hobby on their property in the Silicon Valley town of Los Gatos, Calif. The two ended up running the business for 10 years and garnering some accolades -- including a 93 score on a Sauvignon blend -- as well as raising money for breast cancer research along the way.
Now Fleming and her husband, retired dermatologist Greg Jenkins, have sold off the wine business and now are preparing to sell their family home as well, listing it at $4.375 million. "We purchased the home about 35 years ago," Fleming said. "It had no landscaping, but it had privacy and a gorgeous view and we fell in love with it. And over the years, we remodeled and kept it up the date. We raised our two sons here, and they had this adventure of growing up here in privacy with nature and the entire view of the valley."
The property is actually two parcels; one holds the family home, and the other was purchased later to secure the family's privacy, eventually becoming home to their vineyard. "It's an exceptional property," said listing agent Carolyn Givens of Alain Pinel Realtors. "The house is fabulous: 360-degree views, unobstructed views of the valley and the Santa Cruz Mountains. They did a lot of entertaining here."
Glancing through the listing photos, it's evident that an Olympian lived at the residence. An Olympic flag flaps from a flagpole, and other ice skating memorabilia can be spotted throughout the interior. Measuring 3,200 square feet, the home has four bedrooms and 3.5 baths. Outside, the grounds include a pool, spa, sports court and numerous decks and patios, including a dining area beneath a a grouping of oak trees.
Fleming says she and her husband are selling in an effort to downsize and slow their lives down a bit.
"The house is gorgeous and fun to live in," explains Fleming, "but we need to go on to the next chapter of our lives."
Wondering what a monthly payment would be on Fleming's Los Gatos real estate market gem? Assuming 20 percent down on a 30-year mortgage, a monthly payment would be around $16,900, according to Zillow's mortgage calculator.

As the wealthy get wealthier, they're putting more of it into land. America's 100 largest individual landowners added 700,000 acres to their landholdings last year, according to the Land Report 100, put out by the Land Report and Fay Ranches. Those 100 individuals or families now control more than 30 million acres, or 2 percent of America's entire land mass.
Ranches and farmland have become a popular investment for the wealthy, who are looking for more stable and tangible stores of wealth. Many of the largest landowners also generate income from their land, from sustainable timber and agriculture.
"Significant properties are a finite commodity and have repeatedly shown over time to be resistant to our most challenging economic times," said Greg Fay of Fay Ranches, the ranch brokerage firm. Topping the list again this year is John Malone, with 2.2 million acres. The cable titan added to his landholdings this year, with the purchase of two properties in the posh horse country of Wellington, Fla., totaling more than 120 acres.
Ted Turner ranked second again with 2 million acres-making Malone and Turner the Gates/Buffett of landholdings. Most of the top landholders are families that either own or owned timber companies, like the Emmerson family and Irving family.
But the big changes in the list were further down the ranks, with Stan Kroenke -- the real estate and sports magnate -- vaulting from No. 10 to 8. He purchased the Broken O Ranch (pictured above and in the slideshow below) in November 2012, giving him an additional 125,000 acres and bringing his total to 848,571 acres. Some other big landowners include Jeff Bezos, with 290,000 acres, the Koch family with 239,000 acres and hedge fund titan Louis Moore Bacon, with 215,990 acres.

9. The heirs of Pingree lumber and wood-products company, 830,000 acres
10. The Reed family, 730,000 acres
